Columbia Man Arraigned For Attempted Murder And Other Charges

A 44 year old Columbia man will be back Tuolumne County Superior Court next month for assault with a
deadly weapon on a peace officer and attempted murder charges. Steven Kent Baker is also charged with providing false identification to officers. He was
arraigned today but no pleas were entered.
Sheriff´s deputies inflicted two gunshot wounds after they say Baker went after them in a Yankee Hill Road
driveway with a deadly weapon over the weekend.
Baker was originally being chased by Sonora Police for suspected drunk driving.
His
preliminary hearing is set for June third.
