Boys, 6 And 3, Die In Fire

Two young brothers who were left alone died on New Year´s Day as fire swept through their East Bakersfield house. Jody Saldana, the mother of the 3-year-old and 6-year-old boys, returned home to find her apartment on fire. She was injured trying to reach the boys, who apparently died of smoke inhalation. Police say it appears the boys had been left alone for several hours. Cause of the fire is under investigation.
