Two Calaveras County volunteer firefighters escaped serious injury Wednesday afternoon when their fire engine overturned on Ridge Road near Glencoe.
According to Calaveras County CDF spokesperson Sharron Torrance, the volunteer firefighters from Central Fire, based in Mountain Ranch, were responding to an emergency medical aid call just before 5 p.m. Their fire engine ran off Ridge Road, near Independence Road, and over-turned down an embankment.
A firefighter was pinned in the fire truck and had to be extricated from the wreckage.
One of the firefighters was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for observation.
The accident is under investigation.
