Arizona Wildfire Threatens Homes

A growing wildfire has moved to within a half-mile of 175 homes in Arizona. High winds are hampering efforts to fight the fire, which is burning more than 14,000 acres and is about 40 percent contained.
Fire crews are working today to keep the blaze from jumping a highway to where the terrain is steep and rugged, making it even more difficult to fight. It could soon threaten all 700 homes on Mount Lemmon. No serious injuries are reported.
Meanwhile, a 12,000 acre wildfire is still burning in neighboring New Mexico. Firefighters there caught a break today because of high humidity.
