Sponsored by:

A former student body president at Hartnell College in Salinas has been sentenced to 31 years to life in prison for raping a mother of three. George Alvarez was sentenced in Monterey County Superior Court for the attack a year ago. His victim testified that Alvarez confronted her in her driveway at gunpoint, forced her into her home and repeatedly assaulted her.

Alvarez was also convicted of trying to lure two 15-year-old girls into his car as they walked to North Salinas High School. He also faces sentencing after pleading guilty last month to raping a gas station employee in Gilroy. Under a plea agreement, he will be sentenced to another 21 years in prison.
