CHP Pushes For Commercial Licenses

Rafting and fishing guides in Northern California say their businesses could be hurt if state officials enforce a requirement that employees get commercial driver´s licenses.
The licenses are required for any business that uses large vans. The guides use vans to transport customers to various points along the rivers– but they say the requirement has often been ignored. The guide companies say the cost of the licenses could force them to raise rates – and that could hurt business. But officials with the California Highway Patrol say the guide companies need to meet the requirement – just as other businesses do.
