Some Fresno residents say a two-week-old fire at a huge debris pile in the city has been left to burn too long. A local neighborhood group says firefighters should have battled the fire sooner.
The blaze started January 11th in a huge pile of concrete, brick and twisted metal at a salvage company. Smoke from the fire has sent many people to medical clinics and caused some people to keep children indoors. Firefighting officials say they have been battling the blaze around the clock whenever possible — but sometimes cannot work because the fire reaches one thousand degrees. Authorities say they want to ensure that firefighters are safe.
