Men in Raisin Costumes asked to Leave Bridge
You can wear a raisin costume pretty much anywhere in San Francisco, but not on the Golden Gate Bridge. Two men dressed as raisins were asked to remove their bulky purple costumes yesterday before they crossed the famed span. The men were trying to promote a convention.
Bridge district spokeswoman Mary Currie says the men would have needed a permit because they wanted to stand on the sidewalk and wave to passing cars. She says that would have caused a traffic hazard. Currie says the raisins were told they would need a permit, but they never got one.
The raisins were cooperative.
