Poll: Californians Worried About Terrorism

Sponsored by:

A Field Poll today says Californians are worried about terrorism after the war in Iraq and believe the U.N. should be involved in rebuilding the country.

Nearly 80% of respondents to the poll say the United Nations should be involved in postwar reconstruction, either with the United States or by itself. The Bush administration has vowed that Iraqis will run the country. Yesterday, Vice President Dick Cheney said authority would not be given to the U.N.

Respondents to the poll were split over whether the war would lead to terrorism in the U.S. Nearly two-thirds of Democrats said they thought it would, while fewer than 25% of Republicans thought terrorism would increase.
