Public Transit Budget Debated in Calaveras County

Will the public transit system in Calaveras County be around much longer?
The answer may come in two weeks, as county supervisor Victoria Erickson decides whether or not to support continued funding for the busses.
Supervisors Paul Stein and Tom Tryon have already come out against the issue, due to high costs for passengers.
This week, the Calaveras County Supervisors listened to a presentation by a consulting firm… almost a year after hiring a new company to manage public transit. The presentation said the current system of flexible bus routes works better in Calaveras County than taxi cabs or dial-a-ride.
The week after next, the Calaveras Council of Governments will ask the county supervisors to approve a transit budget.
