Inmate Problem Unfounded

Sponsored by:

Some tense moments this morning around 11 o´clock. We had been getting reports of problems with an inmate work camp crew apparently from the Sierra Conservation Center. An officer or guard was heard over the fire radio just after 11 this morning calling for assistance from other law enforcement, saying inmates in the work crew were out of control.

Apparently the situation turned out to be nothing.

San Andreas CDF Fire officials had been unable to make contact with the crew, supposedly in the remote Wagner Ridge area south of Groveland near the Mariposa county line. Mariposa and Tuolumne County sheriff deputies were sent into the area and a command post was set up as well. Officers from the inmate crew in question later called in saying everything was OK and all inmates accounted for. An investigation will most likely follow this incident.
