Survey: Steroids In High School Sports
It looks like steroids are no stranger to the world of California high school athletics.
A survey shows that more than half the boys in state high schools say they know someone who uses steroids or nutritional supplements. And 11 percent admit they´ve used performance-enhancing substances themselves.
The data will be formally unveiled at a news conference today in Sacramento just before a committee hearing chaired by Senator Jackie Speier. The survey was sent by “at-issue Consulting Group” — a public affairs firm — to students around the state this month.
Speier authored a bill last year banning the sale of supplements containing ephedra, and has introduced a a new bill banning the sale of some supplements to teens.
