If you enjoy experiencing the wonders of the back country, you need to attend Outdoor Pro´s “Wilderness Survival” course on Saturday, Apr. 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sponsored by the Columbia College Student Senate, instruction will cover the essentials for survival in potentially harmful and dangerous situations.
Useful survival skills and techniques will be taught, like navigation, fire building, food sources, signaling help, mental attitude, clothing, first aid, shelter construction, essential equipment, water sources, pre-planning and maps.
Cost is $25 per person and participants will meet at 9 a.m. at the Twain Harte Market parking lot, located at 18711 Tiffeni Drive in Twain Harte. Bring a dish for pot luck, folding chair and compass. Pre-registration, which is required, can be handled by calling 588-5270.
