San Andreas, CA — Calaveras County officials have given unanimous support for a plan to reorganize the Public Works Department.
Director Rob Houghton told the Board of Supervisors yesterday in a study session that his proposed changes would correct structural deficiencies.
The restructure would turn the department into an agency, creating an umbrella organization for various divisions such as solid waste and transit.
Houghton proposes adding five new positions and reclassifying seven. It would cost $500,000 in equipment and add $260,000 to the annual budget.
Formal recommendations will come back before the board within the next few months.
