Yosemite National Park, CA –Environmentalists are continuing their fight against a proposed construction project in Yosemite National Park.
Park officials say a complaint was filed in federal court in Fresno to block the renovation of the Yosemite Lodge, which was damaged by a flood eight years ago.
The filing comes after a district judge lifted a year-old injunction which thwarted the parks $200 million renovation plan. The lodge renovation is one of six projects being contested by activists.
The environmentalists assert that the National Park Service needs to rewrite its plan to protect the Merced River, saying that it doesn´t go far enough to limit visitors near the river.
However park officials say rewriting the plan would unduly delay numerous projects that probably would have to be put off for several years.
