CHP Officer Shot And Killed Near Woodland

Woodland, CA — California Highway Patrol Officials are reporting that a CHP officer was shot this afternoon near Woodland.
Police were looking for a man wearing a black ball cap and driving a black vehicle, but details of the incident were sketchy and descriptions varied.
CHP spokesman Tom Marshall says a citizen called in the shooting shortly after 2:30 pm, apparently using the officer´s own squad car radio.
The officer, a commercial vehicle inspector, was not immediately identified. The shooting took place on County Road 96 just north of Highway 16. Woodland is 15 miles northwest of Sacramento.
