San Andreas, CA — The Calaveras County Department of Animal Control will get some much-needed aid thanks to the County Board of Supervisors.
The board voted unanimously at yesterday´s meeting to adopt several recommendations to improve the facility.
One such recommendation was to place the department under the auspices of the sheriff´s department in order to guarantee the funds needed to make the improvements.
Officials say the move will also ensure humane treatment at the county shelter. The board action approves about $365,000 to go toward repairs to the shelter and construction of a new office for the staff.
The board also approved $40,000 a year to hire a new staff member.
