Gas Leak Prompts Evacuation Of Gas Station

Valley Springs, CA — The Calaveras County Sheriff´s Department says a gas leak prompted the evacuation of a gas station in Valley Springs over the weekend.
The Sheriff´s office reports that the leak was caused by a backhoe operator digging at a construction site on Nove Road and Highway 26 just after 8:30 Saturday morning.
Firefighters from the Foothill Fire Protection District a;long with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection responded tot he scene and closed off the damaged gas line.
The area was re-opened shortly after 9:00 and no injuries were reported.
