San Francisco, CA — BART police are conducting what a spokesman describes as “precautionary security sweeps´” at some of its stations in response to a series of explosions in London.
A sweep at the West Oakland station began around 6:15. Sweeps are being conducted at other stations as well, but BART is not disclosing what stations are being checked.
BART officials also have more officers patrolling the system, and have closed bathrooms at all stations.
A BART spokesman says that the added security is being taken as a “precaution.”
