A Twain Harte bank is aiding in a unique effort to help soldiers serving in the Middle East.
Julia Clark says Cell Phones For Soldiers was started by a pair of teens in Massachusetts to help buy long distance calling cards for military personnel overseas.
The effort has raised more than $150,000 and funded the purchase of over 4,000 prepaid cards for soldiers.
The donated cell phones are recycled for cash to purchase more calling cards for soldiers. Phones may be dropped off anytime during regular business hours at the U.S. Bank on Twain Harte Drive.
