Turberculosis On The Rise In Northern California
Several Northern California counties are witnessing an alarming increase in turberculosis cases.
El Dorado, Lake, Napa, Sacramento, Solano, Stanislaus, Tuolumne, and Yuba counties are among 14 California counties reporting rising levels in turberculosis cases which has health officials concerned. Experts aren´t sure why turberculosis is on the rise in these areas, but the American Lung Association suggests cuts in disease prevention and treatment programs as a possible culprit. “When the government does not make this investment in public health and prevention, we experience a resurgence,” said Barbara Cole, a registered nurse who serves on the ALA board.
