Assembly Committee Reconsiders And Approves Violent Video Game Bill
Sacramento, CA — It seemed to be the end of the two-year battle between the video game industry and child advocates, but today, the various Assembly Committees reconsidered, and then approved AB 450 on a bipartisan 6-4 vote.
The approval of the legislation to limit children´s access to ultra violent video games came after the bill-failed passage by one vote in the same committee two days earlier.
Specifically the legislation calls for ending the sale and rental of violent video games that depict serous injury to people under the age of 17.
Under the proposal, violators would be liable in an amount of up to $1,000 for each offence.
