Forecasters Warn Of Severe Weather In The Mother Lode
Undated — The National Weather Service is warning Mother Lode residents of the potential of severe thunderstorms moving through the area.
A strong low pressure system has brought in unseasonably cold and unstable air which could produce thunderstorms with 50 mile-per-hour wind gusts and dime-sized hail.
Forecasters say the thunderstorm could produce funnel clouds or tornadoes without warning. Residents are advised to seek shelter in the event of a funnel cloud sighting.
The National Weather Service has also issued a severe thunderstorm warning for four northern counties.
The storm has caused heavy rain and hail, and is expected to continue to bring snow to the Sierra and strong winds over the passes.
