Police Say Man Gave Finger To Settle Debt

San Jose, CA — Police say the owner of the finger that turned up in a cup of fast food chili gave it to a co-worker to settle a $50 debt.

San Jose Police have declined to identify the man who reportedly had no idea what the severed finger would be used for.

The man apparently lost his finger in an accident at the Las Vegas paving company where he worked with James Plascencia who is the husband of Anna Ayala. Ayala became the focus of a widespread investigation after claiming she bit into the finger as she ate a cup of Wendy´s chili.

The investigators later determined the allegation to be a hoax. Ayala has since been arrested on felony charges of attempted grand theft.

Placencia is in jail on unrelated charges of failure to pay child support.
