San Andreas, CA– The Highway Patrol is launching a statewide recruitment effort.
The funding is for 510 officers and 173 dispatchers. CHP Officer Mike Maddox says in his 27 years of sevice, he has never seen this type of increase.
Cadets must undergo a demanding 27 week training course and physical, psychological, medical, and background screenings before taking their oath.
Potential dispatchers do not have to attend the C.H.P. Training Academy in Sacramento. They are required to complete a six-week “on the job” training program.
