Stolen Identity Theft Arrest

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA – A good eye and a traffic stop helped to put an identity thief behind bars. Calaveras County Sheriff’s Officials say a Deputy recognized 28 year old Amber Nicole McMillan of San Andreas as being a suspect of driving on a suspended driver’s license. He stopped her on Highway 49 in San Andreas on January 26th around 11:35 a.m. The deputy also found McMillan was on probation from San Joaquin County and asked to search her car.

During the search the deputy found a piece of paper with credit card numbers, expiration dates, and security codes on it. When he questioned McMillan she admitted to stealing the credit card information. Then the deputy searched her purse and discovered pieces of paper with the names, dates of birth, addresses, and additional credit card numbers of numerous people. In the car he found a black digital scale, methamphetamine, brass knuckles and additional credit card numbers, driver’s licenses, check books and clear laminating paper. He also found a “shaved” vehicle key which Sheriff’s officials say is typically used to break into and steal vehicles.

McMillan was arrested and charged with possession of; stolen property (misdemeanor), a controlled substance (Felony), illegal weapon (felony), burglary tools (misdemeanor), and identifying information/credit cards (Identity Theft) (felony).

Sheriff’s Officials say they are still in the process of notifying the victims of the identity theft.
