California Governor Gray Davis has until noon Friday to release details of 38 long-term contracts between
the state and power generators.

Several news organizations and state legislators sued Davis, saying the contracts used state money and should be
publicly known. Davis refused, saying it would put the state at a disadvantage competitively.

The contracts total 43 billion dollars.
