Firefighters Busy In The Motherlode This Weekend

Sponsored by:

Firefighters had their hands full this weekend with grass fires. Saturday, crews needed only minutes to put
out a small spot of burning grass in the Columbia area near a campground. It was caused by spontaneous combustion after the homeowner was doing some lot
clearing with a lawnmower.

Yesterday, crews were called to Highway 26 and Wymer Road in Valley Springs just after 10am for a 10 to 15 acre blaze.
Crews needed an hour and a half to surround it. Cause is under investigation.

An hour later in Jenny Lind, crews were called to Teresti Road for a two
to three acre sized blaze. Crews fought the fire for about 45 minutes before getting it surrounded. Cause is also under investigation in that one.

Finally,
crews needed a half hour to corral a three acre blaze on Quiver Drive in Copper Cove just after 5 o´clock. No one was hurt and no structure
damages.

There were no injuries or structure damages in either incident.
