Students Head Back To School
Sonora, Ca — It was time to dust off the number two pencils and round up some hot lunch money, as today marked the first day of school for many students all across the Mother Lode.
At Sonora High School, Principal Todd Dearden says that 1,430 students are enrolled this year, which is slightly up from a year ago.
?We had an opening assembly this morning that was well attended, everyone went straight to classes, so we are rocking and rolling,? says Dearden.
The others schools starting today in Tuolumne County are Big Oak Flat-Groveland Unified, Belleview Elementary, Summerville Elementary, Chinese Camp, Columbia, Curtis Creek, Jamestown, Sonora El, and Soulsbyville.
Meanwhile in Calaveras County, classes began today at Bret Harte High, Vallecito High, Mark Twain Elementary, Copperopolis Elementary, Albert Michelson Elementary, Hazel Fischer Elementary, Avery Middle School and Mountain Oaks Charter School.
