Davis Campaign Gets Boost From Union

The union representing most of California´s prison guards is promising to spend another million dollars toward Governor Davis´ re-election, after the governor approved a contract likely to bring union members a 37 percent raise over five years.

Republican challenger Bill Simon´s campaign criticizes what it calls another example of the “pay to play” attitude of Davis´ administration.

Davis and the union deny any connection between the union´s contributions and its contract.
