Mudslide Blocked Part Of Highway 49 After Storm

Sonora, CA — The CHP says the storm that soaked the Mother Lode yesterday caused some problems for area drivers.
The quick-moving thunderstorm passed through Sonora around 6:00 last night and by 6:40 the CHP says part of Highway 49 was blocked by a mudslide.
The mix of mud and rocks covered the shoulder and part of one lane east of New Melones Reservoir. Cal-Trans had the road clear by 7:25pm.
