Home Builders Appeal To Legislature For Relief From Escalating Home Prices
Sacramento, CA — As California´s statewide median price of a new home tops the $500,000 mark, home builders and prospective buyers are calling on lawmakers for relief.
Building industry representatives say the half-million dollar average prices about 81% of California residents out of the housing market.
Developers are asking for a break on fees added to the price of a home by the government. Industry professionals say those fees add an average of $20,000 to the price of a home.
Currently six bills affecting home construction are before the legislature.
One of those proposes limitations on fees that government can charge home-builders.
