There are several events taking place in the Mother Lode this weekend. It is the Mother Lode Adventist Junior Academy’s 50th year and they are celebrating this Saturday with “a fun filled evening blessing a wonderful school.” Expect a night of music, food, and auctions, with live music and Western attire encouraged. Proceeds go to safety upgrades, student desks and chairs, and scholarships. The phone number for tickets and website for the auction items are in the event listing here.

At Columbia Elementary the annual Seed Share Event will take place Saturday from 10am to 4pm. FoCuS (Foothill Collaborative for Sustainability) and Master Gardeners ask for a $10 donation to support school and public garden projects, and will provide you a ten seed packets of veggies, flowers or herbs.  Speakers will give presentations through out the day, food will be available for purchase and growers can share their seeds. Exhibit booths include Arnold Rim Trail, Mother Lode Farm to School Network, Beekeepers, Forest Service/Volunteer Services, and The Farmory.

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) is hosting a Speech Trek Contest. The topic is “College–Is it Worth the Time and Expense? Why?” and 15 local high school students are scheduled to deliver 5-minute speeches. Find out who the judges are and more in the event listing.

Saturday is also Family Movie Matinee at the Tuolumne County Library Community. The PG rated movie, the live action tale of Peter Pan, will start at 2:00 PM in the Sonora Main Library Community Room. Details are in the Saturday Family Movie Matinee event listing.
