City, County Agency Plan For Emergencies

Sponsored by:

As rains pelted the Mother Lode today, City and county safety officials meet today in Sonora to map out emergency response plans.

County Fire Marshall Kary Hubbard says law enforcement, Tuolumne Utilities District, City fire, public works and emergency services representatives discussed availability of staff preparedness and public agency response in the advent of a major disaster, such as flooding from storms.

Hubbard again stresses residents in flood prone areas should have sand bags at their homes ready to be used if needed. She says they are available at most hardware stores.

Hubbard says the county´s supply of sand bags are limited and will be distributed only in a major emergency situation.

Public works officials are asking homeowners to help prevent flooding by cleaning leaves and debris from drains, spillways and drains.
