Columbia Man Falls To His Death

Fatal rest stop last night for a Columbia area man. Tuolumne County Sheriff spokesman Sgt. Roger Dittberner says it happened around 10:30 last night on Italian Bar Road when 46 year-old Stephen Cowen stopped along the isolated stretch of roadway about 5-miles out of Columbia. For an unknown reason, Cowan fell from the roadway´s edge 300-feet down the embankment to his death.
Deputies called in the county search and rescue team to retrieve the body. Cowan lived on Italian Bar Road. The accident is under investigation.
