California Smokers Declining

Sacramento, CA — A survey by the state Department of Health Services has found that only 14 percent of California adults smoked last year.
That´s the lowest number on record and a drop of 38 percent since voters approved funding for an anti-smoking campaign in 1988.
The state´s public health officer says the decreasing smoking rate helps California benefit from a lower rate of tobacco-related illnesses than the nation on a whole.
