Slower Speed OK’d For Rural Calaveras Road

San Andreas, CA – Drivers along portions of Avery Sheep Ranch Road will have to slow down a bit with a new, lower speed limit approved Monday.
The road runs from Mountain Ranch through Sheep Ranch to Avery.
Results from a recent traffic study show the amount of development along the road warrants a decrease from 35 miles per hour to 25.
The winding road already has parts posted at 25 miles per hour. However, a 20-year-old law, which marked the speed 35 miles per hour, made enforcement impossible.
The residential area extending 4,200 feet from Highway 4 will be affected.
