Sonora, Ca — Many across the Mother Lode have reported receiving an e-mail with the subject title “LIVE OR DIE,” within the past day.
Within the e-mail´s five paragraphs, the author writes that you will be killed unless you pay $8,000 now and $7,000 later. It goes on to imply that family members will be at risk, if you contact law enforcement or anyone else.
The Sheriff´s Department has received multiple reports of residents receiving this particular e-mail as of Friday morning.
Lt. Dan Bressler says the best way to deal with this e-mail is to simply click delete, and understand that it is a scam.
According to media reports, this e-mail has surfaced in numerous places across the country.
Bressler adds that if anyone feels that they are in danger they can always contact the Sheriff´s Office, and it will be dealt with on a case by case basis. He notes that similar type e-mail scams occur regularly, and the best thing to do is simply erase the messages.
