Jamestown’s Van Den Bergh In Iowa For Red Cross Relief

Sponsored by:

Cedar Falls, IA — Red Cross Volunteer Gary Van Den Bergh is in Cedar Falls for what may be an extended stay.

When Van Den Bergh departed Sonora Tuesday afternoon, he thought he might be assigned to flood ravaged Iowa for three week. Now he says it could be longer than that given the severity of the flooding.

Van Den Bergh is working 12 hour shifts as a supervisor in a warehouse in Cedar Falls, home of Northern Iowa University.

Van Den Bergh reports the University is located on high ground so there is no immediate flooding. Van Den Bergh and his fellow volunteers are being housed in the University dorms.

Due to his extended work hours the Jamestown resident has yet to explore the countryside for a first-hand view of the extensive damage.
