Department Of Water Resources Schedules Second Snow Survey
Sacramento, CA — The California Department of Water Resources will conduct its second of five snow surveys for the season at 11am Thursday at the Phillips Station on Hwy 50 and Sierra at Tahoe Rd. 90 miles east of Sacramento.
According to D.W.R. Spokesperson Amy Norris the initial survey taken December 30 measured the snow depth at 41 inches. Water content was measured at 10 inches which equates to 83 percent of normal. Overall the state was at 76 percent of normal with that first measurement.
Measurements are taken once a month with the final one taken in May. D.W.R. Spokesperson Don Strickland says the most telling measurement is generally taken in April.
