Update: Crash On Highway 49 Near Pesce Way
Update at 12:55 p.m.: The CHP reports that the wreckage from a solo-vehicle crash on Highway 49 has been cleared and traffic is moving freely once again. One person was taken by ambulance to Sonora Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
Update at 12:35 p.m.: The CHP reports that Highway 49 is down to one-way traffic control as emergency and tow crews work to remove the debris and wreckage. Just before noon a vehicle went off the roadway and flipped onto its roof blocking the southbound lane of the highway.
Original post at 11:54 a.m.: Sonora, CA — There is a notable traffic accident on Highway 49 near Pesce Way.
It is in the area near the outskirts of the Sonora City limits heading towards Columbia. The Sonora Police Department reports that officials are closing Highway 49 in order to cleanup the wreckage. At least one vehicle has overturned. Traffic is getting backed up so you will want to avoid the area. An ambulance is also responding to the scene.
