Plane Makes Emergency Landing

Sponsored by:

A single-engine plane carrying three people made an emergency landing in the ocean near Santa Catalina Island, with NO one injured. Officials say all three people on the plane were

rescued late yesterday. The plane had just taken off from Catalina Airport around 4:45 p.m. when it started to have engine problems. It could not get enough altitude to return to the airfield, and its emergency water landing was about 200 yards from the south shore of Santa Catalina Island.

People on a nearby boat picked up the three who were aboard the plane. They were reported to be the pilot and a woman from San Diego and a man from Australia.
