Dozens of people have been evacuated from an Irvine business after a substance believed to be a
hazardous chemical was found underneath someone´s desk. Orange County Fire Authority Captain Stephen Miller says up to 60 employees of Quickstart
Technologies were removed to a holding area to undergo decontamination procedures. He says no one, however, showed any symptoms indicating any type of
exposure. The white powder was discovered by an unidentified company worker at about 11 a-m. Miller says the worker immediately called police and they
instructed him to take it to a nearby fire station. Miller says the substance initially tested positive as risin which is derived from castor beans, but a second test on
the sample showed negative results.
