Golf Tournament To Benefit War Veterans
Sonora, CA — Thousands of war veterans may be getting some extra help with their finances thanks to the generosity of dozens of Tuolumne County residents.
The American Legion Post 58 and Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 391 will host their fifth annual Benefit Golf Tournament Friday morning at Mountain Springs Golf Club in Sonora.
Secretary of Chapter 391, Dick Southern says the money is split 50/50 between the American Legion and his chapter.
He says the funds allow the organization to help veterans in need, when it comes to scholarships, Christmas dinners, and even utility bills.
In Tuolumne County alone, Southern says there are more than 8,500 war veterans. The event will start at 9:00am.
