Livezey Guilty Of Involuntary Manslaughter

Sponsored by:

Valley Springs, CA — A Valley Springs man has been convicted of involuntary manslaughter.

James Alison Livezey, 41, got into a fight with 52-year-old Marvin Brown on June 29 at the Sequoia Rose Mobile Home Park. Brown was taken to Mark Twain St. Josephs Hospital, where he later passed away days later. Yesterday a jury found Livezey guilty of involuntary manslaughter, which happens when a person unlawfully causes a death while committing another crime. The jury rejected defense claims of “self defense and accident in the heat of passion.”

The Calaveras County District Attorney’s Office reports that Livezey could face up to four years in county jail under the new AB 109 program. Prior to AB 109, Livezey could have been sentenced to state prison.
