Forecasters Say More Wet Storms Due

Sponsored by:

A climate expert says El Nino driven storms should continue to bring moisture-rich storms to the Sierra through spring.

Ed O´Lenic is chief of climate operations for the federal Climate Prediction Center.

He says despite the current lull in storms, the long-range forecast calls for wetter than normal conditions across the region through March.

In late December, a series of powerful storms left up to 15 feet of snow in the Sierra, fueling hopes that El Nino would break a three-year drought.

Though the region has been warm and dry since then, forecasters predict more wet storms will follow into spring.

Wet and snowy conditions will return by tonight, with rain predicted Thursday through next week.
