Sheriff Eyes Substation In Mokelumne Hill

Mokelumne Hill, CA — After a community meeting to address crime in Mokelumne Hill, the Calaveras County Sheriff is considering opening a substation in the community.
The recent meeting with local officials was convened as a result of the community´s plea for help to combat drug crime in the area´s local cemeteries.
Supervisor Steve Wilensky says one local landlady has offered the Sheriff´s Department her storefront near one of the cemeteries.
A discussion is in progress and a proposal could come to the Board of Supervisors in two weeks.
