Two Child Endangerment Cases In Calaveras

San Andreas, CA — Calaveras County authorities have two suspects in jail after two separate cases involving drugs and child endangerment.

The first case happened in Valley Springs where 38-year old Laura Lee Howard approached a juvenile girl and her mom in the garage of their home. Howard claimed to be the mother of the juvenile´s friend.

After a short time Howard said she had some candy for the juvenile. Howard took the young girl to her car and gave her a candy bar and some Vicodin pills. The victim´s mother called authorities and Howard is in Calaveras County Jail on $35,000 bail.

The second case took place on January 25 when the Calaveras Narcotics Unit found 87.5 grams of marijuana packaged for sale in a home next to a two-year old child´s crib.

The child´s father 23-year old Jesus Leyva was arrested and is in jail on $115,000 bail.
