Student Questioned For Hijack Connection
An FBI agent is defending the detention of a California student who had ties to two of the suicide hijackers.
Brian Rielly told a federal judge in Manhattan Friday that Osama Awadallah was “very cooperative” with the team of federal agents who swarmed his San Diego apartment on September 20th. He also insisted those agents went by the book.
Rielly´s testimony came at a hearing on whether evidence against Awadallah, who is from Jordan, should be thrown out.
The judge ordered the evidentiary hearing after suggesting in a lengthy opinion issued last month that Awadallah “may have been the victim of coercion and intimidation.”
The hearing in federal court in Manhattan is expected to continue through the weekend.
