An inmate has died after a struggle with guards at the San Joaquin County jail, although the cause of his death remains under investigation.
Mondez Denmon was booked into the jail Friday afternoon after being arrested in connection with domestic violence charges. He started fighting with officers at the jail and had to be restrained by being strapped to a bed.
Authorities say Denmon broke free and again fought with officers, but then lost he consciousness.
Denmon was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The incident remains under investigation.
